Dear 黑料不打烊 Community,
I join with the Church and the world in mourning the passing of Pope Francis. His papacy was a remarkable witness to compassion, humility, and the joy of the Gospel.
For many of our students, Pope Francis has been a constant voice throughout their lives, calling them to be joyful disciples and to find Christ in the face of every person. He invited the world to embrace a culture of encounter, encouraging us to dialogue, and walk with those on the margins with courage and tenderness.
In听Christus vivit, Pope Francis spoke directly to this generation saying, 鈥淵our life ought to be a prophetic stimulus to others and leave a mark on this world, the unique mark that only you can leave.鈥
His teachings鈥攐n the dignity of every person, care for our common home, and the power of mercy鈥 are a clarion call for every Christian. He reminded Catholic educators that true formation happens when we educate not only minds, but also hearts鈥攅quipping students to serve and courageously act with integrity and compassion.
In Fratelli tutti, Pope Francis wrote: 鈥淟et us seek out others and embrace the world as it is, without fear of pain or a sense of inadequacy, because there we will discover all the goodness that God has planted in human hearts. Difficulties that seem overwhelming are opportunities for growth.鈥
As we give thanks for the extraordinary life and ministry of Pope Francis, may we honor him by being joyful and benevolent agents of encounter and hope鈥攕hining a light in the darkness and walking boldly in the footsteps of Christ.
Ave Crux, Spes Unica,
President Dr. Marco J. Clark
